Our Story
Isn’t it amazing to see God at work? He prepares us through small experiences that grow into greater opportunities to serve Him.
My name is Sasha Walters, owner and designer of Designer Bible Drill, founded in August 2010. What began as a personal journey as a parent of a Bible driller in North Carolina in 2002 became a calling God clearly placed on my heart.
Since 2003, I have started Bible Drill programs in five Southern Baptist churches, across two states. I continue to teach all three levels of Bible Drill in my home church and assist other churches as they launch their own programs.
A Family Passion for Bible Drill
Bible Drill has been a meaningful part of our family’s life. Both of my children began Children’s Bible Drill competition in the 4th grade. My daughter and son were Texas State Youth Champions in 2008 and 2010, respectively, and advanced to the National Bible Drill competition. In 2013, my son was the High School State Winner and placed 2nd nationally. Both received college scholarships for Bible Drill at the state level.
As a family, we have experienced Bible Drill as drillers, parents, teachers, callers, and judges. We truly love Bible Drill and now three generations are involved. Our grandson began Children’s Bible Drill in 2024. Our son has been teaching Bible Drill in his church for a couple years, while I am now on my 23rd season.
We have seen the impact Scripture memory and Bible skills has on children, youth and families, whether they participate in an organized drill competition, or learn Bible verses individually for life application.
How BookItLookIts Were Created
As a Bible Drill teacher, I was always looking for ways to help students improve their memory skills and personalize Scripture application. That led me to create hands-on learning tools that I used in my own church programs for years.
We called them BookItLookIts, and paired them with Scripture Pictures—resulting in a creative mnemonic combination that students, teachers and parents love. After ten years of mailing CDs, in 2020 we began offering the resources as digital downloads.
